Buying up hardware – this is what it’s like in corona time

Some time ago I wrote a blog with 10 tips for getting hardware bought up quickly and easily.
Now, all these tips still apply unabated, but corona is bringing some changes to the process of buying up (or getting bought up) hardware.

1. Lower prices on computer hardware buybacks.

More and more offices are becoming vacant.
People mostly work from home, so offices everywhere are being cleaned up .
As a result, market prices are under pressure.
Do you want to sell old hardware at this time?
Then you should expect lower prices.
But think ahead.
Even after these corona times we will go to the office less – that means a lot of old hardware will never be used again!
Think printers, desktops, servers and network hardware.
My advice?
Sell now and still grab your profit

2. Only buy up from the right parties

More than ever before, shadowy parties are popping up offering very high prices for your old hardware.
I would strongly advise against going into business with these.
There is always fine print in the contract (when you receive a contract at all) and you have no idea if the hardware will end up well.
Only have hardware bought up by WEEELABEX certified companies. WEEELABEX is a legally required standard that buyers of discarded hardware must meet.

3. Choose a buyer who thinks with you

Many offices are completely empty these days.
Where before there were plenty of hands to lug around, now the ICT person on duty is on his own.
Get smart and hire a buyer who thinks with you.
Do everything at once.
Is there an old copy machine gathering dust?
Are there many old docking stations in the closet?
Or do you have a collection of screens?

In the video below we show how this works in practice, at Heijmans construction company in Rosmalen.

4. Retrieve the combination with office furniture

As mentioned earlier, more and more offices are disappearing.
Whereas IT Recycling used to be called in once a month to clear an office, we now do so at least once a week.
When you have an office cleared out, choose right away to buy up, recycle or destroy old hardware.
And vice versa, of course!
That way you get the perfect deal, from 1 company.

I hope these buyout tips were valuable!
