New laptops in your business?
Then, in most cases, you’re also stuck with a pile of depreciated old laptops.
The good news: maybe the old laptops are still worth some money!
But how do you sell a batch of discarded laptops?
I list 10 tips for you.
Tip #1: Don’t put old laptops on Marketplace or Ebay
You often get relatively high prices for old laptops on Marketplace or Ebay.
There are drawbacks to old laptop sales through these platforms, though.
Selling laptops to individuals is a trade.
In most cases, you can only get rid of laptops that are in perfect condition.
You also have to be careful not to get ripped off and make good agreements about certain guarantees.
Tip #2: Make a list of types and numbers
A reliable laptop buyer will always want a list of items from you.
Based on this, they will make an offer.
Write down the make, model and approximate number of units.
They must still be working laptops, defective ones will not be easily bid on.
Tip #3: Don’t forget the adapters
Don’t forget the laptop adapters either!
If you buy a laptop with an adapter, you will get more money for it than without one.
So always try to include them.
Tip #4: Laptop batteries
Want to sell an old laptop for cash?
Then make sure it always has the battery in it.
A laptop without a battery is generally worth very little.
Tip #5: Pay attention to the dates on the laptop!
Our laptop buying tip number 5: pay attention to the data that is on the laptop.
A written-off laptop is full of confidential data.
You can often remove it with a free program.
Even better to leave it to the professional!
Afterwards you will get a list and a certificate.
Tip #6: WEEELABEX buyers
Only do business with WEEELABEX certified laptop buyers.
For the trade and recycling of old computers and hardware, there is a legally required seal of approval called WEEELABEX.
Parties then meet the highest environmental and safe data destruction requirements.
Tip #7: No cash
Do you have a laptop buyer on the phone who indicates he will come by with cash?
Then you have to ask yourself if that’s a good idea.
If someone shouts “For 1,000 euros I’ll take everything” then the real purchase value will probably be much higher.
Make sure you sell laptops on an after-the-fact basis.
Have them taken, tested and look at the list from the buyer.
That way you have an overview and are guaranteed to get a fair deal.
Tip #8: Go for a good deal, not the very highest price
Go for a neat and smooth deal, not the very highest price when selling a laptop for cash.
You often get the very highest price on Ebay.de.
The highest price after that you get from the “black dealer,” but then you have to deal with poor service and contact money.
Better to choose professional and certified laptop purchasing!
Tip #9: stack upright
Never lay laptops on top of each other.
That will dent the screens and cause unsightly stains.
Laptops should be stored and transported like books in the closet.
Are they in a cat?
Then make sure there is cardboard underneath.
Tip #10: Have all computer waste taken away
Do not choose to sell only old laptops, but all depreciated hardware.
The better laptop buyer will definitely do this for you!
