The danger of improper recycling
Improper recycling of lithium batteries is life-threatening. Damaged, they can explode or spontaneously catch fire. This is a real risk for recycling centers, electric trucks, waste handlers and storage sites. Lithium batteries also contain harmful substances such as lithium, cobalt and nickel. In addition, if processed poorly, valuable rare earth metals are lost that can then be used to make new products.
Only certified recyclers have proper knowledge of the chemical composition of lithium batteries and other hazardous goods and know how to process them responsibly. This way, risks are avoided and raw materials are sustainably recovered. Safe recycling starts with conscious disposal.
