At IT-Recycling, we believe in equal opportunities for everyone, and especially for children. Based on that belief, we are closely involved in Stichting Digidromen, a social foundation active in the Netherlands. Digidromen is committed to reducing the digital divide in the Netherlands by making laptops available to children growing up in poverty. Through this foundation, depreciated laptops from the business world are given a valuable second life.
Social purpose with impact
According to recent figures, at least 5% of children in the Netherlands live in poverty. That amounts to about one to two children per school class. For these children it is far from obvious to have their own laptop, while in education it is becoming increasingly important. Digidromen supports families who do not have the means to purchase their own laptop. Through a network of social partners, donated laptops are refurbished and provided to children who can use them.
From business residual flow to personalized learning environment
IT-Recycling collects discarded hardware daily from companies throughout the Netherlands. Many of these devices are technically still in good condition and therefore perfectly suitable for reuse. Thanks to our involvement with Stichting Digidromen, we are able to make certain laptops that would otherwise be destroyed or recycled available for a new purpose: education.
Digidromen makes sure that each laptop is checked, cleaned and equipped with appropriate accessories, such as a mouse, headset and backpack. Then, in collaboration with local organizations, they are offered to children in vulnerable situations.
Together for equal digital opportunity
Through Stichting Digidromen, IT Recycling contributes to greater digital equality in the Netherlands. We are committed to the sustainable processing of electronics and to a society in which every child has the opportunity to develop his or her talents.
Want to do your part as a company, too? Then consider donating used laptops via IT Recycling instead of destroying them.
