Hard drives destruction

Traditional hard drives contain moving parts that wear out with use. Damage also causes hard drives to become partially or completely unreadable.

It is better not to throw away a broken hard drive, especially if it contains confidential information. Even if the hard drive is smashed, data remains on it. It is a breeze for hackers and specialized companies to read data anyway. If you want to make sure your data is really gone, opt for professional destruction. This can be done on location so you can see that your disks are truly destroyed unreadable.

You can delete the data on hard drives digitally and physically. In the latter variant, you really destroy the hard drive. You can also erase hard drives magnetically, but that is not sufficient. Unlike digital deletion and magnetic destruction, physical deletion is faster, always more thorough and therefore safer. Thorough destruction of disks is therefore necessary.

Not safe, but sometimes it is convenient to remove hard drives via software. For example, if you want to give your computer a new life. Just throwing data into the trash is insufficient, as is formatting hard drives. Free software makes it easy to recover data. There are special programs that remove data better, but still sometimes data remains.

For businesses, erasure and self-destruction is absolutely inappropriate. A hard disk with a dent can simply be restored at a data recovery company and hackers know how to deal with it as well. For professional data destruction you really need a good shredder that shreds the hard disk. Anything else is not secure enough!

Do you have solid state drives or solid state disks that need wiping? Erasing an SSD is not guaranteed to be safe. Physical destruction is always better. You can burn these drives, but this is inconvenient and results in environmental damage.

Mechanical hard drives and SSDs differ. The data density of SSDs is much higher and therefore ordinary destruction with a shredder at 20-30mm as most companies do is not safe enough.
